Webinar: Getting Started with Somatic Approaches in Eating Disorder Treatment

You may have noticed this in your work, clients are eating, restoring weight, and applying skills, yet still feel disconnected from their bodies or unsure how to trust them.

This introductory free webinar explores how integrating somatic ideas can help clients move from behavioural recovery toward a more embodied sense of safety and trust.

Join me for a 45-minute webinar (with 15 minutes for questions) exploring how somatic ideas and skills can be integrated into eating disorder and body image treatment.

Together, we will explore:

  • The familiar experience of ED treatment
  • When and why good ED treatment does not always fully land
  • How disembodiment develops and why recovery involves returning to the body
  • Story follows state: The importance of building safety
  • Making sense of sensation: Decoding body signals
  • What this looks like in real ED sessions, including two case examples

If you have been curious about weaving somatic ideas into your clinical work, this webinar offers a gentle and practical introduction, with opportunities to deepen your learning in an upcoming two-day workshop.

All clinicians are welcome.

The webinar will be recorded and available to registered participants afterwards.

About Natasha

I am a clinical psychologist dedicated to supporting people with eating disorders and body image issues. I am also an Advanced Schema Therapist and Supervisor, Certified EMDR clinician and credential eating disorder clinician.

In the over 20 years I have worked in the eating disorders space; I have supervised many health professionals who tell me how stuck they feel with the traditional treatment interventions for eating disorders. In the past, I too have felt this stagnation in my work and lacked the confidence to try new approaches.

I now regularly use a variety of trauma informed and emotion focused approaches in my work with clients and have seen transformative changes. The approaches have helped to make my work more fulfilling, creative and authentic.

As a supervisor and trainer, I feel privileged to support health professionals to find creative and innovative ways to work with complexity that are intuitive, fun and tailored to a person’s needs. My trainings are energizing and supportive. Consider them a launching pad to build your confidence weaving trauma informed ideas into your established practice.
